Recommendations

iDRATA has been developed in strict compliance with the most recent recommendations of global health organizations such as WHO, UNICEF and ESPGHAN. A comparison of the compositions recommended by these institutions and that of iDRATA is shown in the table.

How to Use

iDRATA can be consumed in the room temperature but it is recommended to intake in a fresh or frozen condition. Cut the sachet and take the liquid directly into the mouth according to the following guidelines. Once opened, it should be kept in the refrigator and used within 24 hours.

In all mild or moderate dehydration conditions:
1. During the first 4 hours
a. Recommended quantity (ml) of iDRATA is equal with: Weight (kg) x 75. If the child wants to drink more, give more. Use the child age according to the Table Nr.1 only in cases when the child’s weight is Unknown.
b. The recommended quantity (ml) should be consumed during the first 4 hours.
c. At the beginning should be consumed small and frequent quantities to minimize the  stomach tension and refrectary vomiting. Usually, a teaspoon (5 ml) every 1-2 min. for children under 2 years or frequent sips for children above 2 years, are well tolerated.
d. Child should be monitored carefully:
– If the child vomits, should be waited for 10 min. and then resume iDRATA but with  slower rate intake.
– If the child’s eyelids are swollen, intake of iDRATA should be discontinued.
e. During the first 4 hours it is not recommended to intake other liquids or foods, except breastfeeding whenever the child wants (when applicable). Weight the child and monitor the urine volume output.

2- Monitor the child’s hydration condition after 4 hours

a- If child is still dehydrated: repeat treatment with iDRATA for another 4 hours as above mentioned; start to give  regularly  (according to age) breastfeeding or milk, fruit juice or food every 3-4 hours.

b- If child is completely rehydrated: continue with additional liquid intake and regular food (according to age). To prevent the dehydration, should be administered iDRATA: 5-10 ml/kg after each diarrhea episode; 2-5 ml/kg after each vomiting episode.
